Project context
Service Bus is an animated short (premiere 2025) created by animators from VIA University College in collaboration with sound design students from Sonic College. I handled sound design and original composition, focused on tactile detail and a clear dramaturgical rhythm.
Challenge
Animation has no natural sound bed — everything must be built from scratch. The challenge was to create a complete sonic landscape that feels organic and credible while the original composition supports the arc without dominating.
Approach
Built layer by layer: ambiences, foley and textures combined to give the animated world tactile presence. The composition was written to picture, focused on mood and pace where sound carries the narrative.
Result
Service Bus won Best Animation at the Ekko Shortlist Awards 2025. The award recognises the film’s overall quality and the tight interplay between animation and sound.
